Skin is the living manuscript where the inscriptions of time and the events of our lives are written. This live archive of flesh traces the encounters that express who we are. A textural language of markings on the surface of our bodies invites a slower gaze to read the emotional, human landscapes of our bodies.

Dévoiler est un acte étrange. To unmask is a strange act, and never a clean gesture - lift one mask to find a hidden thought, beneath the thought discover a secret desire, within that forgotten desire an unearthed memory. Some faces we wear out of vanity. Others we wear from necessity, to gain an entry that requires a toll. At times we forget the face we wear in an absurd comedy of errors. By accident, or by courage, we eventually unmask and find ourselves in a vast interior country, one we spend a lifetime crossing.

Erreur ravissante, beautiful error. Every portrait is twice lit. The light from elsewhere—the lamp, the window, the afternoon—and the other light - le feu intérieur, what is burning in the heart. The first reveals the body exterior; the second is an illuminating confessional. Exposure is the delicate tension between what is shown and what is withheld - where revelation begins. Light presents the surface; shadow defines the contours of what remains unseen. Some shadows are a mercy, preserving secrets, admitting nothing, promising perhaps everything.

The sculptor frees a face from stone; the lens arrests a face mid-dissolution—half memory, half becoming—caught in a narrow instant where one expression yields to another. Every portrait is a wager: that the invisible might appear by allowing it to remain unresolved. Look closely, and you may see things as they are. Look softly, and perhaps you will see that a face is never a finished thing, but an event unfolding in time.
